This January, I once again participated in the 30 Squared daily painting challenge.

Oil on canvas

Watercolor, pencil and art markers

During my January art challenge, I pursued an Avian them in memory of my Dad. He was big into forest walks with his and camera and drew a bird for the family Christmas card every year. Both he and Mom are constant inspiration, but as Dad is no longer with us, the feelings are more poignant. So birds in my art every day! I used oils, watercolor, pencils and art markers. Though less agile in watercolor, I think its practice enhanced my oil painting efforts. Creating more of a focus on deliberate brush strokes, each stroke of color standing alone instead of continuously painting over the same spot. It was a satisfying month!
